I have been living on Little Corn Island for 2 months now. One of the most memorable moments was sitting on the beach with a few beautiful women, scrubbing our bodies with a natural coffee scrub and washing it off in the ocean. We massaged ourselves and each other, we talked about love and peace and self-care. We played into the ocean and allowed mother nature to cleanse our bodies.
It was an act of sisterhood and self-love.
Goddess Jacq (co-owner of Funk Yoga and Sup on Little Corn) makes this heavenly scrub at her home and has been kind enough to share her recipe on the Yogi & the Chef.
As yogis we always choose natural over chemical, so this scrub is 100% o’natural! This scrumptious concoction is designed to exfoliate and nurture. Coconut oil is a fantastic moisturiser and coffee grounds are full of antioxidants for your skin to absorb. Patchouli is an extremely healing oil which has been proven to help reduce scarring and heal wounds.
So go grab your sisters, drink loads of coffee and get scrubbing!
Funky Yogi Coffee Scrub Recipe:
- Lots of Coffee Grounds (used)
- Coconut Oil
- Dash of Rose Water (Optional)
- 8+ Drops of Patchouli
- 10+ Drops of Lavender
- 5+ Drops of Tangerine Oil
- Add brown sugar or honey (if desired)
*Mix to desired consistency. We opted for a runny scrub with loads of coconut oil. If you prefer a more dense mixture use less liquids and more coffee grounds.
Rub all over, scrub yourself silly, take a few minutes to be still, and wash off in the sea!
Do NOT use in shower, as coconut oil can solidify and clog drains. Coconut Oil can be substituted with Avocado or Sesame Oil for this reason.
Enjoy yogis. x
